Weekend

Had a very fun weekend with A (who was visiting town) and D in Madison. We met up Friday night at D's, then headed over to a traditional Wisconsin bar/restaurant where we drank lots of beer, snacked on cheese curds and finished things off with the fish fry. It was extremely unhealthy, but probably not a bad start to a night of drinking.

Then we headed over to the Weary Traveler for more beers and drinks, and to wait for E (my special lady friend) to arrive after she finished work. She showed up looking very hot and feeling starved, so she ordered their not-so-big assed burger from the kids menu. It was already around 9:30 by then, so after she ate and met A, she decided to head home rather than hang out with us late into the night. So, we headed back to D's, where we said goodnight and took the car home (which was convenient, since I always cab anyway when I drink, so we that way we'd have the car in the morning).

After E left, D, A and I hung out at D's for a little to settle into our high, then, in our inebriated state we decided that going to a burlesque show would be an excellent way to end a boy's night out. So a cab was called, we piled in and soon found ourselves at the extremely high-end classy club that is known as Visions... don't let the toothless dancer there fool you into thinking it's not the creme dela creme of clubs :P

Actually, we behaved ourselves and pretty much just drank, talked and enjoyed the stage show. After a couple of hours (that seemed to go by very quickly) we decided to head home. Somehow we found a cab, it dropped of D and A, and took me back home to find E just finally falling asleep.
I stumbled around in the dark a bit, but soon landed in bed where I pretty much immediately passed out.

The next morning E had to go to work early, so after saying good by in our customary way, she headed out and I did my best to nurse myself back from the brink of hangover hell. A few more hours of sleep, some aspirin and lots of glasses of water later, I was pretty much fine, but until sometime in the afternoon, I really didn't want to do much more than watch TV. E got home around 2:30, so I took the car out to get it's first oil change and while waiting for that to finish, I got a hold of D and A, who were suffering much as I had. They'd already had lunch, so I told them I'd call them after E and I had finished eating.

E and I went to lunch downtown, and although she was originally going to hang out with the boys, she was really tired, so she decided to head home instead, again with the car. She dropped me off at D's where A and I hung out for awhile, comparing our hangovers and various other near-psychedelic experiences. After an hour or so, we decided to go find the music festival D had told us about, so we hit the trial and walked about a mile over to it.

The music festival was so/so, but we got there late, so perhaps we'd missed the real fun. A and I spent most of the time in conversation about the opposite sex and relationships, probably inspired by the many cute women walking around. As the festival was winding down, we headed back towards D's, then towards downtown, where we ate some food and eventually went over to the pool hall to play some billiards. We had a few drinks over the evening, but neither of us were really in the mood to go crazy, so we mostly just talked and enjoyed the game (which neither of us were very good at, which frankly made it more fun as the games were close). Eventually we headed back over to D, and D came home from the play he was out that afternoon watching.

I didn't stay long after that, just an hour or so while A and D caught up with what A and I had done earlier in the day. There was a lot of laughing about all of our adventures. But it was getting late, so we called a cab and I headed home. It was a fun drive home as it turned out to be the same cab driver who had taken us to Visions the night before, and he had lots of stories to tell.

Sunday E and I had breakfast at a very good restaurant, then went to Goodwill to donate some stuff, then out to watch the new X-files movie; we were both pretty disappointed with it, but E more so since she was a big fan of the show and just finished watching all 9 seasons in preparation for the movie. So afterwards, we took care of some shopping, then went home to take it easy and spend some quality time together. Later in the evening we watched the movie "Forgetting Jessica Marshall", which funny... not the greatest comedy, but a nice Sunday evening movie. Then we did some reading and finally went to bed.

Not a bad weekend. I have to say it was very cool seeing A again, and it's always nice to hang out with D, the one non-work friend I know here in Madison. D invited me out to something this Wed., but I'm not sure I'll be able to make it... but I should call and let him know either way... adding that to my task list.

New Producer In Town

I thought, and thought, and thought, for all of five minutes, trying to come up with a creative name for this blog, but could not arrive at one that felt A) original B) wasn't already taken, and/or C) didn't involve me stealing good blog names from friends. So, in the end I'm stuck with NewProducerInTown, which is what I am, and which I probably will be again soon, but hopefully not too many times more after that. But you never know. Anyway, here we are, and here we go...
